The Philippine remake of ‘Miracle in Cell No. 7’ stars Aga Muhlach, Xia Vigor, and Bela Padilla. Viva Films

MANILA — Viva Films on Friday released the full trailer of the Philippine version of “Miracle in Cell No. 7,” showing glimpses of happy moments shared by the lead characters inside a jail cell.

As in the 2013 South Korean film, the Metro Manila Film Festival entry centers on a mentally challenged man, Lito (Aga Muhlach), who is wrongfully imprisoned for murder.

He forms friendships with his fellow inmates, who then connive to have him reunite with his daughter, Yesha (Xia Vigor).

While the secret visits afford the father and daughter time to bond, the trailer touches on the pain of their being apart. Yesha, in one scene, said she wants to steal so she would be put to jail with Lito.

“Gusto ko pong magnakaw. Gusto ko pong makulong, para makasama ko si Tatay,” she said.

After being only briefly shown in the teaser, Bela Padilla as the adult Yesha is seen in court talking about her father.

The cast of “Miracle in Cell No. 7” also includes Joel Torre, JC Santos, Mon Confiado, Jojit Lorenzo, Soliman Cruz, John Arcilla, and Tirso Cruz III.

The film by Nuel Naval is scheduled for a Christmas Day release.
