Veteran actress Lolita Rodriguez dies

MANILA – Veteran actress Lolita Rodriguez, considered as one of the greatest actresses in Philippine cinema, has passed away.

Rodriguez, 81, died of stroke in her home in Hemet, California, according to her granddaughter, singer Radha Cuadrado.

The veteran actress starred in the acclaimed movies “Tinimbang Ka Ngunit Kulang,” “Ina Ka ng Anak Mo,” “Stardoom” and “Tubog sa Ginto,” among others.

She also appeared on stage, such as in Nick Joaquin’s “Larawan.”

Rodriguez moved to Hemet, a farming community near Los Angeles, in the '80s. Cuadrado said they are still waiting for the final details of her grandmother’s funeral arrangements in California.

The singer will fly to the United States after her show her in Manila on Saturday. – Report from Mario Dumaual, ABS-CBN News
