MANILA - Comedian Vice Ganda said on Tuesday that he was not offended by the exclusion of his film, "The Super Parental Guardians," from the official list of entries to this year's Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

"After reading the tweets [of support], I did not feel offended at all," Vice Ganda said during a press conference held for the Star Cinema film, which will hit theaters instead on November 30 --more than two weeks before the start of the annual movie festival.

The "It's Showtime" host acknowledged that the organizers of the MMFF are trying to shake off the supposed cynicism of local moviegoers regarding previous entries, but said that his films have always adhered to his definition of quality.

"Basta ako, naniniwala ako na when you give the people what they want to have and what they want to feel after watching the movie --iyong paglabas nila ng sinehan, nakuha ng tao ang gusto niyang makuha pagkatapos ng pelikula na yun. Iyon ang quality," he explained.

"At nararamdaman ko, all my movies were all quality dahil ang mga gustong maramdaman ng mga tao ay nakuha nila," said Vice Ganda, whose entry last year, the comedy romp "Beauty and the Bestie," is the currently the highest grossing Filipino film of all time.

The official entries to the 2016 MMFF were announced last week, headlined by Jun Robles Lana's award-winning transgender film "Die Beautiful." The list became controversial after snubbing the aforementioned "The Super Parental Guardians," which also stars Coco Martin, Awra Briguela, and Simon Pineda.

According to Nicanor Tiongson of the University of the Philippines Film Institute, the head of the MMFF 2016 selection committee, their panel decided to pick the entries based on "quality" instead of whether they will sell tickets.

Asked about his opinion about the films which made the list, Vice Ganda said: "Let's give everyone a chance. Let's be positive. Let's support them. We were given a lot of chances before at huwag nating ipagkait sa iba."
