MANILA -- ABS-CBN Corp. executive Linggit Tan vouched for actor Robin Padilla, who is hoping to get a visa to the United States to be with his pregnant wife Mariel Rodriguez, who is set to give birth there this month.

On Instagram, Padilla posted the contents of a letter from Tan for an appointment schedule with the consul general to appeal for the reconsideration of the US visa application of the action star.

Tan explained that Padilla is seeking special approval from the consul general to get a tourist visa to be with his wife, who is an American citizen.

Padilla had to go through a more complicated procedure when applying for travel permits after he was convicted for possession of illegal firearms in 1994.

Tan said she can attest to Padilla's "good nature and kind heart through the years."

To further support Padilla's appeal, Tan even attached the actor's binding agreement with ABS-CBN until December 2017.

The executive added that Padilla will be doing a new show in January 2017 as proof that the actor needs to return to the Philippines.

"This is to prove, on his behalf, that if given the chance to visit his family and assure the safety condition of Ms. Padilla and their child, he will come back and return to the Philippines to perform his obligation with our company, as we are having a television show featuring Mr. Padilla, this coming January 2017. I have also attached herewith, the summary of his travels outside the Philippines," Tan wrote.
