MANILA - Former "It's Showtime" host Eric "Eruption" Tai and his wife Rona Samson revealed that the reason they joined latest season of "The Amazing Race Asia," was to fulfill their "ultimate goal" of having a child.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Wednesday at the media launch of the reality show's fifth season, the couple said they are planning to have a baby through IVF (in vitro fertilization).

This, after Samson suffered a miscarriage last year.

"That's one of the motivations that we have. I'm sure we can save up for it but for us to make it like a do-or-die situation we made that the goal," Samson said.

The winner of "The Amazing Race Asia" gets to bring home $100,000.

Samson said that after her miscarriage, her doctor told them that the only way for them to start a family is to do an IVF "because we won't be able to get pregnant naturally."

"We will just do our best to achieve that no matter what," Tai promised.

"Team Philippines tayo! We will do our best to represent our country," added Tai, who admitted the being in the race with his wife was the most amazing experience he had after leaving "It's Showtime."

"This is definitely one of the biggest blessings that I've had and the best part of it is I'm with my wife, dalawa na kami. 'Di lang ako ang nasa spotlight, my wife got to join the spotlight too," Tai said.

Aside from Tai and Samson, former beauty queens Maggie Wilson and Parul Shah will also represent the Philippines in the race.

The Philippines won the fourth season of "The Amazing Race Asia" back in 2010 with the team of Richard Hardin and Richard Herrera.

The fifth season of "The Amazing Race Asia" will have its world premiere on Thursday at 9 p.m. on AXN.
