MANILA - Television host and actress Kris Aquino said she felt hurt with the decision of her former husband, basketball star James Yap, not to tell their son Bimby about his baby with his Italian girlfriend.

Aquino, in her first public appearance since leaving ABS-CBN, revealed that Bimby only found out about Yap's new son, who was born last August, on Facebook.

"It was not told to him," she said. "I'm not disparaging them [James and girlfriend Michela] because that was their choice. I want them to be also happy and peaceful, because when there's peace and happiness in the other side, there's peace and happiness in your home."

"Pero iyon lang. Nasaktan ako because my son deserved to find out, na sana diniretso sa kanya. Hindi dahil nagselos ako na, oh my God, nag-move on, naunahan ako. Hindi. As a mother, you will shelter and shield your child," she added.

Aquino's claim is in sharp contrast with Yap's, who earlier aired in a radio interview his frustrations over the lack of chances in meeting Bimby. He also said he wants Bimby to meet his baby brother.

"I'll be honest, I was afraid of how Bimby would react about his new sibling," Aquino shared. "Kasi I've been discussing it with him."

"I've been saying, 'Please tell me when you’re ready. Let's make a call. Let's be the ones to call them and say, 'Hey, I'd like to meet my brother.' And then Bimby said, 'Okay, Mama, I’ll tell you when.'"

Meanwhile, Aquino said she is willing to settle his differences with Yap for their children.

"We went through so much hell separating, annulling... Lahat ‘yan pinagdaanan naming kaso. Pero it takes two. And I think I have done more than my share in trying to be the mature one, because I’m 10 years older, so dapat lang," she explained.

“Pero at this stage din naman of the life of the father, it’s time also to man up.”
