ANGELES CITY -- Actor Mark Anthony Fernandez has been transferred to the Angeles District Jail.

Fernandez' transfer pushed through Saturday morning, said Chief Inspector Francisco Guevarra Jr., the commander of Angeles City Police Station 6.

His mother, actress Alma Moreno, accompanied by lawyer Sylvia Flores, briefly made an appearance at the station before following the former matinee idol to the jail, which is in Camp Tomas Pepito, Angeles City.

Flores said that while Fernandez' blood pressure went up earlier, his condition is now stable. She also assured the media that the actor got no special treatment from police.

Fernandez had been held at Station 6 since his arrest Monday night for possession of marijuana. He was set to be arraigned on Thursday, but this was postponed.

On Monday night, the former matinee idol tried to slip his car past a police checkpoint, which led to a pursuit by law enforcers.

He was eventually arrested in the city of San Fernando.

Fernandez initially claimed that he used marijuana as "medication to prevent cancer." He also said that the marijuana confiscated from him was his one-year supply.

However, after meeting with his lawyer, he changed his tune and said the marijuana found in his car was planted. --with reports from Kate Cunanan, ABS-CBN News
