MANILA -- JC de Vera is ready to take on his most challenging role to date.

The Kapamilya actor is the lead star of the independent movie "Best. Partee. Ever.," which is one of the entries to this year's Quezon City International Film Festival (QCIFF) under Circle Competition category.

In the movie directed by Howard "HF" Yambao, de Vera plays a gay man who is sent to jail for selling illegal drugs.

"I know it's outside of my box and, for me, it's really challenging.

De Vera also expressed his support for the government's campaign against illegal drugs.

"Very timely lang talaga. I'm just very, very excited to watch this film," he.

Meanwhile, de Vera also announced that he will be appearing in an episode of "Maalaala Mo Kaya" as a man suffering from psoriasis.
