MANILA -- Actress Aiko Melendez, considered one of the most beautiful celebrities of her generation, recalled how a supposedly safe dermatological procedure turned into a nightmare.

In an Instagram post over the weekend, Melendez shared an old photo that summed up her bad experience.

"Was fixing my old photos and saw this," Melendez wrote in the caption of her Instagram post.

According to the actress, the greatest lesson she learned from the experience is to trust the doctor "who knows what she is doing."

This, she said, also serves as a reminder to not let vanity take control and not go beyond what is needed.

"I'm sharing this picture for the people to be careful with the procedure that they undergo. Sometimes, we always go beyond what is needed, but because of our vanity what's best can be your worst," she wrote.

"I will never ever experiment with my face again.";

Melendez said a trusted doctor helped restore her face.
