MANILA – A Filipino who works at a school cafeteria impressed the judges of the 14th season of “X Factor UK” with her powerful voice and fun personality.
Gaga Lord, 40, performed Shirley Bassey’s “Diamonds are Forever” in front of judges Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Nicole Scherzinger, and Alesha Dixon during the show’s first week of auditions.
She got the seal of approval from all four judges, particularly Cowell, who asked Scherzinger and Dixon to act as back-up dancers.
“Right now I feel like James Bond, I do, because of that song,” Cowell told Lord, adding, “That was amazing. You are fantastic. I love you, I absolutely love you.”
“You got a powerful voice and you’re fun!” added Walsh.
“You’re a force of nature, you’ve got an amazing energy,” said Dixon, who was a guest judge on the show.
Scherzinger, meanwhile, said: “You have a really big voice. It’s really robust.”
Lord moved to the UK from the Philippines and now works as a dinner lady at a primary school. “I married my husband, Chris Lord, so I’m now called Gaga Lord,” she said.
