MANILA – Robin Padilla has finally reacted to the decision of BB Gandanghari to formally file a petition before a court in California to change her name and gender.

In an interview at the sidelines of the baby shower for his wife Mariel Rodriguez last Saturday, Padilla said he doesn’t question Gandanghari’s move as long as she is happy with it.

“Mukha naman siyang masaya. Basta masaya siya, masaya na rin ako. Hindi naman ibig sabihin nun na kung ako ay masaya, ako ay 100% na sampalataya sa ginagawa niya. Basta mahal natin sa buhay, masaya sila, tama o mali, masaya siya, okay na rin,” he said.

“Ako lang, hangga’t wala kang sinasaktan na kapwa mo, okay sa akin lahat iyan. Sa palagay ko naman, masaya lahat ng nasa paligid ni utol, eh ‘di sige,” he added.

Last month, Gandanghari shared on Instagram a photo of the document which she filled out indicating her intention to change her name from Rustom Padilla to Binibini Gandanghari.

She also shared another page of the document where she checked the box corresponding to her choice to change her gender from male to female.

“CHANGE is coming... Big time!!!” she wrote in the caption, saying it is now just a matter of time before her change of name and gender finally becomes official.

Padilla came out of the closet during the celebrity edition of the ABS-CBN reality show “Pinoy Big Brother” in 2006.

Padilla eventually decided to take the name BB Gandanghari and in an interview with “Tapatan ni Tunying” in July 2014, clarified that she is a transgender and not gay.
