MANILA -- JC Santos did not have any second thoughts when he finally offered a role in the upcoming ABS-CBN series "Till I Met You."

Speaking during the show's grand press conference on Sunday, Santos shared that he actually auditioned for the role.

"There was this one day na in-invite po ako para mag-audition for this role. Nilatag po sa harapan namin 'yung requirements. Marami kami. On the second day, na-meet ko na si direk Tonet and binigay na sa akin 'yung script," he said.

Having played supporting roles in his past projects, Santos said he was overwhelmed when he learned that he would be one of the lead stars of "Till I Met You."

"Actually nung time na 'yun, iniisip ko okay na ako kung aawayin ko lang si James dito. Gulat na gulat po ako at hindi ako makapaniwala na isa ako sa mga bida. Nagpapasalamat po ako sa pagtitiwala talaga. Punong puno ang puso ko ngayon," he said.

Santos started as a theater actor at the University of the Philippines-Diliman. He later on became a singer and dancer at Hong Kong Disneyland and at Universal Studios Singapore before going to New York to study musical theater.

In 2014, he decided to finally pursue an acting career.

"Gusto ko po maging working actor talaga sa TV and also film," he said. "Lagi po akong nag-a-audition. Kung alin po 'yung mauna, doon lang po ako."

In "Till I Met You," Santos plays the role of Alejandro, the common friend of the characters of James Reid and Nadine Lustre.

Directed by Antoinette Jadaone, "Till I Met You" will start airing on ABS-CBN on Monday after "Ang Probinsyano."
