A prank call tricking Vice Ganda into believing that Hashtags member Nikko Natividad is bisexual resulted in a heartwarming conversation about “coming out” — and the showbiz newcomer instantly regretting lying to his “It’s Showtime” co-host.

Natividad initiated the prank call during his guesting Tuesday on MOR 101.9’s “Heartbeats” to promote his film “Bakwit Boys,” an entry to the ongoing Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino in which he stars.

Vice Ganda previously pranked his former manager, Ogie Diaz, in the same radio program hosted by DJ Chacha. Natividad and DJ Chacha joked that targeting Vice Ganda was giving him a taste of his own medicine.

As seen in the official YouTube video of Natividad’s guesting, the neophyte actor first messaged Vice Ganda to ask whether he could call. When the “Fantastica” star did pick up, Natividad feigned crying, prompting a concerned inquiry from his victim.

“Ikaw lang ‘yung naisip ko pagsabihan, kasi feeling ko, ikaw ‘yung makakaintindi,” Natividad began, referring to Vice Ganda being openly gay and an advocate of LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) rights.

He explained: “Nahihirapan na kasi ako, e.

Natividad added that his “confusion” stemmed from the fact that he has a child with a woman, and yet he feels attraction towards men. He layered the lie with a mention of actor Marco Gumabao, whom he identified as the man whom he is developing romantic feelings for.

Vice Ganda, who is known for boisterous antics on television, noticeably had a more subdued tone in his conversation with Natividad.

There’s nothing wrong with it. Walang mali.

If you don’t feel comfortable na malaman ng ibang tao, it will take time. Puwede ka pa namang as you are, ‘yung ikaw.

Vice Ganda, who has said he started identifying as gay in his teenage years, also explained to Natividad the source of “fear” for some who are struggling with their sexual identity.

It’s a gift.

“Pag naintindihan mo ‘yung sarili mo, ‘yung nararamdaman mo, it will become easy. Hindi mo lang kasi naiintindihan. And I will help you understand yourself,” he said.

Asked by Natividad whether he should confess his feelings to Gumabao, Vice Ganda had a ready answer: “Hindi muna.

The comedian then asked Natividad whether he would be present on “It’s Showtime” on Wednesday, so they could speak in person. With the Hashtags member answering in the affirmative, the two agreed to meet and exchanged “I love you’s” before dropping the call.

“Don’t be afraid. Don’t be sad. Nothing is wrong with you,” Vice Ganda finally said.

Apparently moved by Vice Ganda’s earnest response to his pretend predicament, Natividad jumped off his seat as he expressed guilt and regret over tricking the comedian.

“Baka magalit siya!” he said.

He shared his appreciation for Vice Ganda’s heartfelt words, which he said would have been a source of genuine encouragement had his dilemma been real. Even then, Natividad appeared concerned over the prank, and quipped he might even be “suspended” from “It’s Showtime.”

Vice Ganda did eventually find out that Natividad’s bisexual admission had only been a joke.

Tagged by his followers on Twitter to inform him that was the victim of a prank, the comedian tweeted: “S*** I was pranked! Mga p****** kayo @mor1019chacha @hashtag_nikko! Na-stress ako!”
