MANILA - "Some martial artists came in and did a demonstration," Hollywood star Matt Damon revealed on how he came across the Filipino martial art Kali, also known as arnis.

"Suddenly they started doing this thing that was so cool."

"It looked exactly like what we wanted, which was really destructive, really close but economic --it was everything we wanted in his style. It was just bad ass," Damon added, referring to his character in the "Bourne" films.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News' Marie Lozano, Damon opened up about his experience learning the art of Kali and how he incorporated it, along with a mix of other fighting styles, into his super spy character Jason Bourne.

Damon will reprise his role in the fifth installment of the film franchise, simply titled "Jason Bourne." Directed by Paul Greengrass, the action thriller, which also stars Oscar-winner Alicia Amanda Vikander, will debut in local cinemas on July 27.
