MANILA - It was an ordinary day for the soon-to-be bride Nikka Martinez, the partner of actor Patrick Garcia. She thought of her gown, floral arrangements, and wedding invitations.

It was a day she wasn't suppose to remember and hold dear, at least if you compare it to other life moments she would blog about like the birth of her second child, her family's first trip abroad, or the day she met Patrick.

It was a run of the mill day for her. And then it wasn't.

Flustered, Nikka woke in the middle of the night and reached for her smartphone. She was overwhelmed with the urge to talk to Patrick's former girlfriend, Jennylyn Mercado, also the mother of the actor's first child. She had not met the actress since she began dating Patrick. She always hid herself away because of her fears and insecurities.

Understandable considering that Jennylyn is a frequent feature in a list of the "sexiest" women in the country. Nikka just didn't know how to deal with all the confusion plaguing her, nor her place in the life of Jazz -- Patrick's son with Jennylyn.

"I didn’t know how to act," admitted Nikka.

But on that particular day she mentioned, she found courage, driven with the desire to see her then-fiance light up if he knew Jazz would be part of their wedding. She pressed send on her smartphone.

She met with Jennylyn for the first time.

"It was casual. It was peaceful. It was nice. I knew in my heart that this was definitely God’s plan. God took away all my insecurity and replaced it with genuine admiration," wrote Nikka on her blog, as she decided to finally open up about the "sensitive topic."

After their meeting, Nikka went home to Patrick, who may have been also expecting an ordinary end to another day of wedding planning. It wasn't. She told her the news, that Jazz was going to be at their big day.

"He hugged me so tight. He thanked me over and over again. He said he loves me a million times. He was so happy. And so was I," Nikka said. "That was all that mattered to me. I wanted my (soon-to-be) husband to be happy. It was absolutely worth it. It was beyond priceless."

Today, Nikka and Patrick are happily married. Nikka also developed a more cordial relationship with both Jennylyn and Jazz. She attended Jazz's 7th birthday back in August last year, and even gamely took pictures with the two, unafraid of what other people might say or think.

Jennylyn seems to feel the same way, openly sharing photos of her hanging out with Nikka and Patrick's own set of daughters.

A heart sign is the only caption she wrote to a photo of Jazz with Chelsea and Patrice she posted Wednesday. She did not need to say more.
