Grammy award-winning singer Celine Dion arrived in Manila past midnight Thursday, landing in the country for the first time, as she holds a two-night concert July 19 and 20, at Mall of Asia Arena.

Dion arrived at NAIA via private plane from Bangkok about 1 a.m.

Just when Dion stepped out of her plane, rain started to pour again, but that didn't stop her from giving well-wishers her most generous smile.

“I had this song in my head, ‘I came ready,’ ” she sang.

“I'm very, very excited. I'm not just talking about me, but I'm talking on behalf of all my people, the musicians, the singers, we’re all excited to be here.”

Dion offered a short but sweet message to her Filipino fans: “I can't wait to meet them!”
