MANILA -- An emotional "Pinoy Dream Academy" runner-up Jay-R Siaboc admitted that he used illegal drugs after his showbiz career plummeted.

Siaboc, who is now based in Cebu, made the news last week after he surrendered to the police.

According to Siaboc, he did this because he feared for his life.

Speaking to "Rated K," Siaboc admitted that his drug use contributed to the decline of his showbiz career.

He also left a message to young people to avoid illegal drugs.

Saka marami pong tao na madadamay, lalong lalo na po 'yung buhay niyo, talagang sinisira niyo lang talaga pagka subukan niyong gumamit," said Siaboc, who is hoping to be given a second chance and re-start his recording career.

After finishing second to Yeng Constantino in the TV talent search, Siaboc scored the hits "Hiling" and "May Tama Rin Ako."
