MANILA - Former stand-up comedian and impersonator Ate Glow shared her views about businessman and car enthusiast Ian King, who recently came out as a trans woman.

Ate Glow, formerly known as Rene Boy Facunla, is a trans woman who now goes by the name Renee Hampshire. She married her British boyfriend last week.

King, on the other hand, is now known as Angelina Mead King. She is married to model Joey Mead.

In an interview with the entertainment website Pep, Ate Glow said her story as well as Angelina's only show that love transcends gender.

"I don't know them personally... So 'yung situation nila, it only proves that love knows no gender," she said, adding, "Hindi naiintindihan ng ibang mga tao na 'yung situation ni Ian (Angelina) eh mahirap. Coming out is a personal battle."

"Iba ang sitwasyon ng mga transgender women. It's a long road to finding one's self."

Ate Glow went on to note differences between her and Angelina even if they are both trans women.

"I am a straight transgender woman. Kasi my partner is a guy and he sees me as a woman," she said.

She said Angelina, on the other hand, underwent a "male to female transition."

Explaining Angelina's relationship with a woman, Ate Glow said: "She had to 'correct' herself so she can identify herself as a woman... Kahit woman na 'yung transgender, pwede siyang maging lesbian."
