MANILA – Former “The Voice of the Philippines” contestant Morissette Amon impressed British singer-songwriter Jessie J when they met on Monday.
Jessie J visited the country for a one-night concert at the Araneta Coliseum Monday night.
Amon, who was supposed to interview the singer-songwriter for the music channel MYX, candidly told Jessie J that she sang one of her songs when she joined “The Voice of the Philippines.”
Jessie J then asked the Filipino singer to sing it in front of her.
Although she was initially hesitant saying she’s shy, Amon eventually agreed to sing a part of Jessie J’s hit “Who You Are.”
Impressed with Amon’s version, Jessie J told the former “The Voice” contestant that they should perform the song together during the concert.
“Amazing. You have to come on stage tonight and sing it with me. Seriously, you should come on stage. Can we do that?” she said.
Jessie J even took to Instagram to express how much she was amazed by Amon’s talent.
“The moment @itsmorissette sang to me and told me she auditioned for The Voice Philippines and came 2nd... So great! So I invited her out to sing with me. Love when this happens,” she said in the caption of the short clip she posted.
True enough, it was a night to remember for Amon for she and Jessie J indeed shared the stage during the British singer's concert.
Jessie J started her recording career in 2005 and rose to fame when her debut album "Who You Are" topped charts in the UK and other territories. Among the hits from the album were "Price Tag," "Who You Are," "Domino," and "Laserlight."
In 2013, Jessie J came out with her second album "Alive" in the UK, with an alternate release for the American market slated this year.
Jessie J was also one of the four coaches in the UK version of "The Voice" during its first two seasons.
