MANILA -- Tears flowed when Tony Labrusca and his mom Angel recalled how hard life was for them before the actor tried his luck in showbiz.

According to Angel, there was a time when she had to leave Labrusca and his sibling with their step-father after they broke up.

“I had to start over kasi wala akong pera, wala akong savings. I couldn’t bring them. Hindi ko afford. I left. Five years ago, nag-break kami so 'yung naipon kong pera, that’s what I use to go visit my children,” she explained on “Magandang Buhay.”

However, the time came when she decided to stop using her earnings to see her children so she could save up and establish a more stable life for their family in the future.

“Hindi ko naman kaya ‘yun kasi wala na akong naiipon kasi parating napupunta sa biyahe. So two years ago, I decided na hindi na ako aalis. I have to focus to make money to get a house so that my kids can come back.”

As fate would have it, that was also the time Labrusca had an interest in becoming an actor.

“He wanted to work and mag-artista. It was a blessing in disguise because we really were a team… He started working, he started doing well. We were helping each other. Nag-focus ako sa kanya and he was working for the both of us,” Angel said.

That’s the reason Labrusca isn’t taking showbiz for granted.

Turning emotionl, he expressed how grateful he is of the opportunities being given to him to be able to provide for his family.

Since life wasn’t easy for him growing up, Labrusca revealed that he only had one wish when he was younger.

“Nung bata ako, ang dami kong pangarap and 'yung wish ko lang was sana magkaroon kami ng bahay,” he said before his voice began to crack.

“Sobrang thankful ako kay God kasi it’s all Him. Maybe my parents weren’t able to provide a house when we were young but he’s given me the chance to be able to provide that for my family now.”

He then thanked his mom for raising him “with the best of your ability” even if she was only a single parent.

“Natutunan ko sa 'yo na sobrang importante na alam ko 'yung self worth ko. I am so happy na while I am learning how to love myself, you’ve loved me unconditionally. I’m never gonna let that go. Thank you. I love you so much,” he said.
