MANILA – Aiko Melendez denied that she will be Sharon Cuneta’s replacement in a proposed movie with Gabby Concepcion.

In a Facebook post which was quoted by PEP, Melendez admitted that there is indeed an offer for her to do a movie with the actor.

However, she clarified that the movie is not the one which was supposedly intended for Concepcion and his former wife, Sharon Cuneta.

"Read the script already. International film company... But nothing is definite yet… But if this pushes through, no truth to the rumor that this was the same film that he was supposed to do with Ms. Sharon Cuneta,” she said.

"Iba po to... I am also one of those people who are looking forward for their reunion movie pero hindi po 'tong project na gagawin po namin if ever kaya 'wag po kayo magalit," she added.

Concepcion and Cuneta had their fans rejoicing when they reunited onscreen for a Valentine's Day ad for a fastfood chain.

While their once strained relationship appeared to have improved following the ad's release, the situation turned sour again. Cuneta deleted photos of her with Concepcion on her Instagram page, which was followed by Cuneta's candid response to fans airing their disappointment.

Apparently referring to the planned reunion film under ABS-CBN's Star Cinema, she wrote in a since-deleted comment: "Guys, I am sorry. Star has done as much as they can. I have done as much as I could.

"This is hurtful to me as well. If you are upset, how do you think I feel? Star or I did not want to break your hearts. My heart is broken.

"And I am so very tired. It may be hard to accept, but there may never be another Sharon-Gabby movie again. Sorry."

No official reason was given behind the cancellation of the project.

As proof that their would-be project is a different one, Melendez told PEP that if negotiation materializes, her upcoming film with Concepcion would be produced by Koreans.
