MANILA - Sebastian "Basti" Artadi of Wolfgang, a popular Filipino hard rock band born during the 1990s, has been diagnosed with a "tumor in [his] head," the singer revealed on his personal Facebook page.

Aratadi, in his post Tuesday, said he has been battling the disease since 2009 but has decided to keep the news from his fans because he "didn't want it to be a distraction from the music."

"In 2009, I was diagnosed with a tumor in my head. This tumor is on the nerves that control the right side of my face which is what is causing the paralysis," he wrote. "As a result I had to relearn to sing with a paralyzed mouth and the fatigue that comes with it."

According to Artadi, his tumor has since worsened and is raising funds by selling shirts online for a procedure that could "temporarily" help his situation called "facial sling."

Referring to the design of the shirt, he said: "It is just a picture of my face which I thought would be a good symbol for me getting back the lost symmetry. So no, it is not because I'm full of myself.

Artadi is one of the four members of Wolfgang alongside Mon Legaspi (bass), Wolf Gemora (drums) and Manuel Legarda (lead guitar). He left the country after the band broke up in 2002 to raise a family in the US.

In addition to being the lead vocalist of Wolfgang, Artadi is also part of the cast of theater company 9 Works Theatrical's local adaptation of Green Day's rock opera, "American Idiot," which opens on Friday.
