MANILA -- Amelia Nonato Pascual, the mother of Piolo Pascual, gave her first-ever TV interview on "Magandang Buhay" on Wednesday, saying the Kapamilya star is a certified mama's boy.

"Actually ang pagiging mama's boy niya ...bunso kasi, very (sweet). 'Yung kapag nandiyan ka, hahalikan ka, yayakapin ka ganoon, malambing," she said.

Mrs. Pascual admitted that she initially didn't want her son to join show business, describing him as very shy.

"Parang naguguluhan ako sa mundo, walang privacy. Kasi yung family namin ay very important sa amin ang privacy," she said.

But it turned out that she didn't have a choice since Pascual went ahead and signed a contract without asking her permission, telling her that he will get sued if he backs out.

"Galit na galit ako," Mrs. Pascual recalled. "Sabi ng mga kapatid, pabayaan ko na kasi 'yun ang hilig. Sabi niya, 'Mommy, give me five years.' Pero ang ganda naman ng (career) niya kasi nagsunod-sunod (ang mga project)."

More than two decades later, Mrs. Pascual said she still feels thrilled seeing her son on television and on the big screen.

"Parang kapag nakikita ko siya ay natutuwa lang ako dahil nakikita ko ang anak ko, since nandito siya sa Pilipinas nasa States ako. Parang kapag nakikita ko siya 'yung maligaya ka ba na nakita mo ang anak mo, not because he's an actor, or not because he's somebody there, it's just normal person na nakita mo," she said.

Asked for her message to her famous son, Mrs. Pascual said: "Alam mo walang wala na akong mahihiling pa. Talagang he's the kind of son that every mom should have talaga. Very grounded, mabait, madasalin, disciplined, mapagmahal sa kapatid, at mapagmahal sa pamilya. At saka he puts himself always last."

For his part, Pascual, whose latest movie "Love Me Tomorrow" opens in theaters on Wednesday, assured his mom that he will always be there for her.

"Just stay happy. Si Mommy kasi ayaw na niyang maka-love life, masaya na siyang ganito. Whatever comes, whoever comes, we will be here for you. No matter what happens hanggang kaya mo pa Mommy I will take you around and we'll do everything for you because we love you," the actor said.
