MANILA - After suffering two miscarriages in one year, Mariel Rodriguez just didn't want to try getting pregnant anymore. Instead, she focused on her work as a television host in order to forget the pain.

"Pero totoo pala iyon, it really happens when you least expect it," said Rodriguez as she opened up about her third pregnancy on Tuesday. The "It's Showtime" co-host was speaking to reporters after she was unveiled as the newest brand ambassador of Hotel Sogo with husband, Robin Padilla.

"We weren't trying. Actually, we were avoiding it but then it happened. That's why I feel that it's really meant to be this time," said Rodriguez, who is three months pregnant.

She first confirmed her pregnancy last Saturday, but she said that she withheld making any announcements because she was waiting for her doctor's approval.

According to Rodriguez, she is undergoing a "painful" heparin regimen in an attempt to prevent another pregnancy loss. She said that the regimen has resulted in some bruising. Rodriguez also revealed that she has gestational diabetes.

But despite the possible complications, the 31-year-old Rodriguez dismissed suggestions that she will be leaving "It's Showtime" anytime soon to take a break.

"Dapat talaga complete bed rest ako. Pero sabi nga ni Robin, we don't feel 'It's Showtime' is giving me any stress. So pumapasok pa rin ako," she admitted.

Asked if she has already thought of names for their unborn child, Rodriguez replied: "If it's a girl, he [Robin] wants it to be Maria. If it's a boy, I will name it after Robin also."
