MANILA – Ian Veneracion only has good words for Richard Yap, who plays his rival for Jodi Sta. Maria’s character in their still-untitled Star Cinema with director Antoinette Jadaone.

While they have yet to shoot scenes together, Veneracion told entertainment site PEP that Yap was nice to him when they first met during their story conference.

“Siyempre kapag magkakasama kami, masaya 'yun. Okay si Richard. I've never worked with him, I just met him in our story conference and he's such a nice guy,” he said.

Recalling what happened during that first meeting, Veneracion said: “Noong na-late ako at nauna sila, sabi ko pagpasok ko, naramdaman ko ang kaunting selos, pero buti na-control ko naman. But I was laughing and it was a joke.”

Since this will be the first time that the three of them will be working with each other, Veneracion said he is excited for the moviegoers.

“It's a fun movie, and it's a fun rivalry between us, as characters, of course, because in real life I do work without -- I'm not stuck naman with Jodi -- I do a lot of work on my own. Si Richard does work on his own, Jodi does work on her own. Pero this movie, there's this rivalry, it's quite interesting,' he said.

Without revealing the plot, Veneracion assured moviegoers that they will like this romantic-comedy movie.

“It's so funny because it's so true, because you see a reflection of our culture, our pagka-Pinoy when it comes to certain things. Ang galing ni Tonette. She's really, really observant,” he said.

In the film, Sta. Maria plays Chigay, an accomplished yet single woman in her 30s. However, when she meets Ryan (Veneracion), her former boyfriend (Yap) comes back into her life.

Veneracion and Sta. Maria began shooting the film last May 5. Star Cinema has yet to announce its release date.
