MANILA – Hero Angeles sent social media abuzz with his television comeback in an episode of “Maalaala Mo Kaya” on Saturday.

The episode saw the actor portray a transgender mom, in line with Mother’s Day weekend.

In a previous interview with ABS-CBN News, Angeles said the unique role and the inspiring story convinced him to play the part.

“Kasi yung pagmamahal ng isang ina sa isang anak, puwede din iyon maibigay ng isang lalaki,” he said.

Even after the show, Angeles’ name remained one of the trending topics on Twitter in the Philippines, with netizens raving to see more of his acting in the small screen.

Angeles first rose to fame when he won the ABS-CBN reality show “Star Circle Quest” in 2004. He was the former onscreen partner of Sandara Park, now a successful pop star.

Last year, Angeles also starred in an “MMK” episode alongside Andrea Brillantes.
