MANILA - The acclaimed director behind the hit romantic comedy "That Thing Called Tadhana" will be making a film starring Jodi Sta. Maria, Richard Yap and Ian Veneracion, Star Cinema announced on Tuesday.

The untitled film from Antoinette Jadaone will be about the pains of a 30-year-old unmarried woman and the stigma that comes with being single at that age.

"Tina-tackle dito iyong tingin ng mga Pinoy sa isang 30-year-old na babae na kapag single siya, may mali na sa kanya. Kapag single ka nang ganoong age, para kanang may sakit na nakakahawa na dapat agapan," Jadaone explained on Tuesday.

Jadaone, who also directed the hit primetime series "On the Wings of Love," added that the film will be light in tone, funny, and filled with kilig moments between the three central characters.

In the film, Sta. Maria plays Chinggay, an accomplished yet single woman in her 30s. The moment she decides to enter a new relationship, she meets Ryan (Ian Veneracion) the same time her former boyfriend (Richard Yap) comes back into her life.

"Iyong buong movie, ipre-present niya iyong dalawang lalaki equally para maranasan ng audience iyong dilemma ni Chinggay na hindi talagang siya makapili. Kasi parehong okay iyong lalaki at pareho ring may limitasyon," Jadaone teased.

Prior to this film, Sta. Maria has worked with both Yap and Veneracion. The actress topbilled the hit morning series "Be Careful with My Heart" with Yap, while she starred in "Pangako Sa 'Yo" alongside Veneracion.

Both television shows were considered a success due partly to Sta. Maria's strong chemistry with her leading men. Her tandems with Yap and Veneracion have each spawned a devout following.

"I'm really very excited to be working with both of them. I respect them both and I appreciate them both," Sta. Maria said, adding that she missed working with the two actors.

Meanwhile, the 41-year-old Veneracion also admitted that he is thrilled to be paired once again with Sta. Maria, as well as working with Yap for the first time.

"I'm really excited to be part of this kasi alam ko na madaming sumusubaybay sa love team ni Richard at Jodi, at mayroon din kaming mga followers from 'Pangako Sa 'Yo. So I think hindi sila madi-disappoint," he said.

The 48-year-old Yap, for his part, said that the film's script brings out his and Veneracion's strengths as leading men to Sta. Maria.

The film, which will start shooting on May 5, has yet be given a release date.
