Billed as a culmination of a decade-long film saga, fans were certain that "Avengers: Infinity War" would be epic in scale, a movie full of superhero badassery, fatal twists, and a villain worthy of fear -- one that wasn't just a CGI blob made to be punched.

And while it certainly did not disappoint in that regard (the less said the better), there's also something a little extra in it for Filipinos. You see by the end, Thanos (Josh Brolin) walks out of what appears to be a small hut to watch the sunset.

Just beyond him are terraced rice paddies that look like giant stairways on the slopes of a mountain. If that sounds familiar to you, it's probably because it has been confirmed to be the Philippines' famous Banaue Rice Terraces.

A representative from Disney told ABS-CBN News' Marie Lozano that the filmmakers at Marvel Studios planned for Thanos to retreat to the Ifugao province following the events of the movie.

It's similar to the ending of the Infinity Gauntlet -- the comic book series where the "Avengers: Infinity War" was based on -- in which Thanos exiles himself to work as a farmer to reflect on his loss.

And if you're wondering, no, Brolin did not fly to the Philippines to shoot the poignant scene. Marvel Studios used footage of the Banaue Rice Terraces acquired with the help of Indochina Productions, a production studio based in Thailand, and applied visual effects to create it.

On Facebook this Wednesday, Indochina Productions shared the photo used as inspiration for Thanos' exile location of choice, saying that they were proud to be included in the movie's end credits.
