James Reid is aware that a lot of people are constantly comparing him with Daniel Padilla.

Instead of looking at it in a negative way, Reid chooses to shrug it off, saying being pitted against other actors is part of showbiz.

“I don’t really notice. I know Daniel is a busy guy just like me and if we were normal people, it would probably be different. But people can’t help but compare. That’s fine. It’s part of the job,” he said.

Reid went on to say that he is excited every time there is an opportunity for them to work together.

In particular, he looks forward to Sarah Geronimo’s 15th anniversary concert on Saturday where he and Padilla are among the singer’s special guests.

“I’m happy to be performing on the same show as him. He’s one of the biggest artists around,” he said of Padilla.

When asked how they have been preparing for their performances, Reid said: “Me and Sarah performed a few times already. It was super easy for me. I’m just really happy to be performing in Sarah’s concert for her 15th anniversary. I’m happy to be part of such a big event.”

Meanwhile, Reid is beyond thrilled that his movie with his girlfriend Nadine Lustre, “Never Not Love You,” is doing well in the box office.

“I was [overwhelmed]. At first, I was so nervous about this movie, the script because it’s heavily character-based, not storyline-based. There was a lot of pressure on me and Nadine,” he said.

“But thank you for watching. I hope you didn’t hurt so much. I know it’s really painful to watch. I watched it myself and it brought me to tears. But thank you for the support. I’ve heard of so many good reviews.”

Reid also appreciates the good words that director Antoinette Jadaone said about him.

“She told me from the start, even during 'OTWOL,' that she’s always been very impressed and proud of my acting. She’s been very good to me,” he said.

Reid and Lustre were recently involved in a controversy when filmmaker Cathy Garcia-Molina cited Jadaone and Dan Villegas in a Twitter post.

In her tweet, Garcia-Molina talked about the supposed work ethic of the two young stars based on what she heard from her colleagues.

Jadaone has maintained that everything is okay between her and the JaDine love team.
