'Goyo' and 10 other national heroes on the big screen

After "Heneral Luna" in 2014, the team behind the historical biopic is looking to replicate its massive success with "Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral," which is gearing up for a release later this year.
"Goyo" stars Paulo Avelino as the titular Gregorio del Pilar, a role he also took on in "Heneral Luna." Like its predecessor, director Jerrold Tarog's follow-up will focus on the national hero during the Philippine-American war.
With over a year in production, "Goyo" is billed as a historical epic with big-budget sets and a larger scope than "Heneral Luna." It also promises a relatable character to a young audience, as Goyo, according to Avelino, will be shown here trying to navigate crossroads of his life.
