MANILA – One of the hit songs of Carol Banawa was featured in the latest episode of “The Vampire Diaries” which aired in America last Thursday (Friday in Manila).

Supposedly set at a beach in the Philippines two years ago, Banawa’s song “Bakit Di Totohanin” played in the background during a scene featuring Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) and Valerie Tulle (Elizabeth Blackmoore).

In the scene, Valerie was convincing Stefan to travel the world and find a witch who could help him with his scar.

Based on her tweet a day before the episode aired, it seems that Banawa knew that her song was going to be used in the American series.

On March 30, the Filipina singer invited her followers to watch “TVD,” hinting they might hear one of her songs on the show.

Upon airing, Banawa took to Instagram to express her surprise that the show actually used her song.

“They have aired it already! #thevampirediaries used my song in one of the scenes for the episode 716. It was a scene between Stefan and Valerie. They used, "BAKIT DI TOTOHANIN" I am in disbelief right now but very grateful! Will be watching it tonight!” she said.

It was Ian Somerhalder, who plays Damon Salvatore in the CW series, who directed the episode.

In 2012, the Hollywood actor visited the Philippines to endorse a local clothing brand.

Somerhalder’s photo shoot for his campaign took place at the beaches of El Nido, Palawan, which he called “probably one of the most beautiful beaches in the face of the planet.”
