MANILA - Singer Regine Velasquez on Tuesday has revealed for the first time that she had suffered a miscarriage, which happened before her wedding with fellow singer Ogie Alcasid back in 2010.

The child would have been her first with Alcasid. The 45-year-old Velasquez, dubbed as the Asia's Songbird, said that the tragic incident has led to her deciding to become a Born-Again Christian.

"Konti-konti, pumupunta na ako sa Victory [Christian Fellowship] slowly, slowly. My husband didn't want to force me, so slowly, nag-build ulit yung relationship ko with Christ," she shared.

Velasquez, who was speaking on the late night talk show "Tonight with Arnold Clavio," also admitted to suffering depression for a while.

But Velasquez was able to move on and went on to give birth to Nathaniel James, or Nate for short, a year later after her marriage.

Nate, who is currently four years-old is Velasquez' first child, while Alcasid already has two daughters with former wife Michelle Van Eimeren.
