Iza wins acting award in 2017 Osaka Asian Film Fest

MANILA – Iza Calzado has bagged the prestigious Yakushi Pearl Award at the 2017 Osaka Asian Film Festival for her performance in the movie “Bliss.”

The “A Love to Last” actress personally accepted her award in Japan on Saturday.

During her acceptance speech, a video of which was shared by Piolo Pascual on Instagram, Calzado said she is “very happy and proud to represent my country, the Philippines, and our film.”

Calzado likewise thanked “Bliss” director Jerrold Tarog and the Filipino team behind it.

“Thank you so much to the Osaka Asian Film Festival for this award. Thank you to the jury members for selecting me,” she said. “I share this award for all the other brilliant performers who are part of the other films, especially Alex (de Rossi).”

Alessandra de Rossi's movie "Kita Kita" was also among the films competiting in the film festival, as well as "Tisay" with Nathalie Hart and JC de Vera.

Calzado also dedicated her award to her late parents.

“I would like to say a special thanks to my parents for watching above in heaven. I feel their presence. Thank you so much for motivating me to continue honing my craft and being an actor,” she said.

The Osaka Asian Film Festival ran from March 3 to 12.
