Noven Belleza has been named the grand champion of "Tawag ng Tanghalan" after coming out on top in a much-hyped finals held at Resorts World Manila, Pasay City on Saturday.

Belleza, a rice farmer from Negros Occidental, produced a string of hair-raising performances, befitting of the title, to triumph against his rivals and delight the majority of viewers and the judges.

He earned the highest number of combined judges' score and text votes (99.96%), defeating Sam Mangubat and Froilan Canlas, who finished second and third, respectively.

Belleza won P2 million in cash prize, a recording contract, a brand-new house and lot, among other prizes.

Belleza first endeared himself to viewers of "Tawag ng Tanghalan," not just for the sincerity in the way he performs, but also for his dogged determination to pull his family out of poverty.

He said his family only lives off a weekly income of P1,000, and that he sacrificed his own education so that his younger siblings can get decent schooling.
