MANILA – Star Cinema denied that the highly anticipated movie adaption of “Darna” has been shelved.
The denial came after The Philippine Star came out with an article by entertainment editor Ricky Lo, claiming that the Liza Soberano-starrer will no longer push through.
In a statement released Thursday, Star Cinema said, "The news article that came out in The Philippine Star today that the Darna movie has been shelved is not true.”
The ABS-CBN film outfit added that the production is actually in full swing.
Since the news came out that she is the new Darna, Soberano has been undergoing intensive physical training, as well as attending acting and dialogue workshops, in preparation for the movie.
"I want to look physically strong," she said, adding that she would like to do her own stunts.
A release date for the "Darna" movie has yet to be released.
