MANILA -- The unlikely trio of Jim Paredes, Aia De Leon and Cooky Chua have teamed up for a concert that features OPM classics reimagined for a new generation.

The show, dubbed “Re-Imagination,” will be held at the 12 Monkeys Music Hall at the Century City Mall in Makati.

“OPM never died or went away. It has always been there," said De Leon, who recently embarked on a solo career after spending a few years with the alternative band Imago.

"What we’re trying to do is re-introduce the music in a different manner to younger audiences so they will have greater appreciation for the richness of our musical heritage. And in doing so, hopefully, chart new direction and generate even more excitement,” she said.

De Leon, Paredes and Chua will perform a variety of personal songs along with some favorites under the musical direction of Chino David (Silent Sanctuary and the Manila Symphony Orchestra).

“When I was invited to become a part of this, upon hearing the concept, I thought, ‘Uy, iba.’ And I was excited to do it more so since it will be my first time to work with Sir Jim and Cooky (as I have worked with Aia before),” said David, who will be playing the violin in the show.

Produced by new creative boutique Sevas Tra Kreative, “Re-Imagination” was inspired by Live from Daryl’s House, the web show that revitalized the career of 1980s star Daryl Hall of Hall and Oates fame. It hopes to replicate Hall’s success yet with a Filipino twist that will take the show all over the country.

According to Sevas Tra Kreative project manager Claudia Perrine, there will be no gate charge as the show will be the outfit’s coming-out party.

“We look to build on this show with similar efforts in different locales and a variety of unusual stages,” she said.
