Pia Wurtzbach, Miss Universe 2015, will appear on an episode of the upcoming fifth season of "Asia's Next Top Model" as a guest judge, it was announced Tuesday.

The Filipina beauty queen will join celebrity photographer-director Yu Tsai and supermodel Cara G. McIlroy on the panel, which will be headed by Thai-American model Cindy Bishop, the show's host.

Rumors about Wurtzbach's first appearance on the popular competition first surfaced back in September. It gained headwind after she was photographed filming for the show with the other judges.

It remains unclear how many episodes Wurtzbach will appear in.

After the announcement, hundreds of fans flooded the show's Facebook page, some expressing their support and others skepticism. Some were excited for the new season to start, while others harked back to previous editions when they felt Filipina contestants were robbed of a win.

So far, representatives from the Philippines came close to winning twice, back in 2014 with Jodilly Pendre and 2015 with Monika Santa Maria. Both finished runners-up. Last season, Julian Flores finished in the top four.

No premiere date for the fifth season of "Asia's Next Top Model" has been announced.
