MANILA -- ABS-CBN was the No. 1 TV station in the Philippines in 2013, according to a multinational audience measurement provider, as it led nationwide ratings across all time blocks and swept the top 15 most watched programs in the country.
TV ratings data from Kantar Media, whose nationwide panel size represents 100% of the total Philippine TV viewing population, showed that ABS-CBN led with an average audience share of 42%, while GMA-7 and TV5 trailed with 33% and 11%, respectively.
The Kapamilya network notably pulled away from its competitors in the primetime block from 6 p.m. to 12 midnight, garnering an average audience share of 47% in 2013. GMA-7 placed a distant second in the block with 31%, while TV5 was a far third with 9%.
The ratings lead of ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida was bolstered by the strong viewership of its 2013 offerings, nine of which ranked among the top 15 most watched programs in the Philippines in terms of average audience share.
"Juan dela Cruz," which ranked first with 34.7%, was followed by "Ina, Kapatid, Anak" with 33.4% and "Princess and I" with 31.1%.
"Honesto," which replaced "Juan dela Cruz" in its timeslot in October, ranked sixth with 28.3%, while "Got to Believe" placed eighth with 27.6%.
ABS-CBN's flagship newscast "TV Patrol," which ranked seventh, was still the most watched news source in the Philippines with an average audience share of 27.7% in 2013.
Other Kapamilya primetime offerings in the top 15 were "Aryana," which placed ninth with 26.6%; "Muling Buksan ang Puso," 10th with 26.1%; and "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala," 11th with 25.9%.
Weekend primetime shows produced by ABS-CBN also made it to the list, with "Maalaala Mo Kaya" garnering 30.7% in average audience share, good enough for fourth place, and "Wansapanataym" trailing in fifth with 29.7%.
Ranking 12th, 13th and 14th, respectively, were "Pilipinas Got Talent" (25.4%), "Bet On Your Baby" (25.3%), and "The Voice of the Philippines" (25.1%).
Notably, the only daytime show in the list, "Be Careful with My Heart" placed 15th with an average audience share of 22.9% nationwide.
Aside from ABS-CBN's lead in primetime, the network also had a winning audience share in the morning block (6 a.m. to 12 noon) with 37% versus GMA-7's 33%. ABS-CBN also hit a 40% audience share in the early afternoon block (12 noon to 3 p.m.), while GMA trailed 36%. The same case was seen in the late afternoon block (3 p.m. to 6 p.m.), as the Kapamilya network led with 38% compared to GMA-7s 33%.
