MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte's economic managers will meet with Chinese officials in Beijing this week to discuss the first basket of projects up for Chinese financing, the finance department said.

The Filipino delegation will give updated on projects that China had committed to fund, including the Chico River Pump Irrigation Project, the DOF said.

"The high-level meetings will focus on strengthening and enhancing our bilateral engagement and cooperation. We express the hope that a number of bilateral documents would be presented and signed during the meeting," the DOF said.

Finance secretary Carlos Dominguez will lead the delegation, which also includes Budget Sec. Benjamin Diokno, Socioeconomic Planning Sec Ernesto Pernia, Transportation Sec Arthur Tugade, Public Works Sec Mark Villar and Bases Conversion and Development Authority CEO Vivencio Dizon.

Officials from the China International Development Cooperation Agency, the Export-Import Bank of China and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank are to meet with the Philippine delegation.

Dominguez and Chinese officials in April signed a $62 million loan agreement in Hainan, China and a separate $79 million grant for at least 4 projects, the DOF said.
