MANILA - Ride-sharing service Uber on Tuesday paid the P5 million fine the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) had meted the firm and competitor Grab for alleged violations of their license.

Uber and Grab were both fined P5 million each by the LTFRB last week for violating the terms of their accreditation and for adding new units despite a government moratorium.

The two ride-sharing services said Monday they would not deactivate their units and urged the LTFRB to resume processing accreditation applications.

The LTFRB meanwhile warned both companies to follow regulations or face a crackdown.
