MANILA (UPDATED) - Nokia on Thursday launched its revamped 3310 in the Philippines, taking aim at consumers seeking a secondary no-frills device and those who are simply nostalgic over the early 2000s.

The new 3310 sports the candy bar design that is familiar to Nokia fans, who have moved on to Apple's iPhone and Android-powered devices. It also comes with a refresh of Snake, one of the first mobile games.

The phone is rated for 22 hours of talk time and up to a month on standby, enough to outlast big screen smartphones that barely make it until the evening without a mid-day charge.

"You can put this into your emergency survival kit if you need to," HMD Global country manager for the Philippines Shannon Mead told reporters.

The endurance, however, comes at the cost of millions of apps available on iOS and Android. The 3310 runs Nokia's own operating system.

The original 3310 debuted in 2000 and sold roughly 120 million units, the most by any phone at that time. It was discontinued in 2005.

After it lost market share to Apple and Google's Android, Nokia sold its handset business to Microsoft in 2014 to concentrate on telecommunications business.

Last year, Finland's HMD bought Microsoft's mobile phone business and the rights to use the Nokia brand.

The Nokia 3310 will retail for P2,490 and will be available starting end of June.

Three new Android-powered smartphones will also be available at the end of the month, the 5-inch Nokia 3 (P6,990), the 5.2-inch Nokia 5 (P9,990) and the 5.5-inch Nokia 6 (P11,990).

Nokia promised monthly security patches for the Android handsets.
