For avid fans of Multiple Online Battle Arena games, they can soon play as their favorite Marvel character as the comic book giant is set to release a MOBA gaming app on iOS and Android.

Marvel on Tuesday announced that it has officially begun its "closed beta test" for Marvel SuperWar, made in collaboration with technology company NetEase.

Marvel said it already begun closed beta tests for Android and iOS devices in Southeast Asia and India.

Using a smartphone, players can play as their favorite hero or villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a format familiar in MOBA games.

Gameplay will also utilize each Marvel characters' powers, turning their earned abilities into different combos.

The look and the feel of the game in terms of gameplay interface seem similar to other existing apps.

However, Marvel said the game will differ from traditional MOBAs on mobile and is "focused on fair combat and balanced gameplay."

It added that players on the app have to buff up their performance based on "skill and perseverance."

Details on the app's release date have yet to be announced.
