MANILA - Samsung on Tuesday launched the Galaxy A6 and A6+, offering some features from its flagship S and Note lines in a more affordable package.

The A6+ has dual lenses on the back that can blur the background in portrait shots, a feature Samsung calls Live Focus. Both phones can also run Samsung's own Bixby digital assistant and have rear-mounted fingerprint sensors below the camera.

But unlike the S9, S9+ and Note 8, the 2018 A6 phones have metal bodies instead of glass and while the screens are branded as "infinity" displays, they don't curve towards the sides.

The tall 18.5x9 screens, however, are more comfortable to hold, compared to the larger flagships. On the smaller A6, users with large hands can easily wrap their thumbs and index fingers around the phone's body.

The A6 has 5.6 inch 720x1480 full HD screen while the A6+ has a six-inch 1080x2200 full HD panel. Both screens are Super AMOLED, meaning blacks appear deeper compared to LCD.

The larger A6+ has a 3,500 mAh battery with 4 gigabytes of RAM while the smaller A6 has a 3,000 mAh cell with 3 gigabytes of RAM. Both come with 32 gigabytes of storage.
