Making a living is difficult, but it can be easier when you have a friend to help you out. Sarah Geronimo became that trusted friend to two hardworking individuals when she surprised them one day to give them a hand with their jobs.

Something fishy

Despite being the best place to get the freshest meat and produce, the wet market turns people off because of its smell, particularly in the fish section. Imagine then what it feels like to be surrounded by fish all day. The former "The Voice of the Philippines" coach got to know exactly how that feels when she took on the job of a fish vendor. And she didn’t mind it a bit.

For a day, Sarah assisted Aubrey Danoog, who often gets worn out managing a small fish stall at the Commonwealth Wet Market on her own. Sarah weighed and cleaned fish bought by customers in the crowded market in Quezon City. “I was glad to have Sarah around. She helped a lot with managing the station as well as the shoppers’ orders,” Aubrey said.

Daily bread

Filipinos love their pandesal served hot on their table for breakfast. But did you know that bakers start making pandesal at ungodly hours? Sarah G woke up extra early one day to assist baker James Linggas in his bakery in Quezon City. The "ASAP 20" regular helped James prepare bread and even took patrons’ orders.

James was relieved that he had someone, no less than the Popstar Royalty, to help him attend to customers. He said, “Thanks to Sarah, I didn’t have to juggle baking and assisting customers on my own.

Sarah considered doing these jobs, which are far from her glamorous showbiz duties, as challenging but fulfilling because she knows that they provide for many Filipino families. She went through all of this for her latest TV commercial for the largest microfinancial solutions provider in the Philippines, Cebuana Lhuillier. You can watch it on Cebuana Lhuillier’s website.
