A group is pushing Filipino-Americans in the United States to run for public office.

Jason Tengco, Executive Director of the National Federation of Filipino American Associations (NAFFAA), said the community has to have stronger representation.

He said the number of Filipinos living in the US is now more than four million, half of whom are under the age of 34.

He said Fil-Am politicians can push for various advocacies including immigration, healthcare and education.
“Immigration has been the key advocacy for NAFFAA. The fact that so many of us came to the US on family visas, that’s something that we are continuing to track in Congress, and to see whether or not family visas can continue and to be protected under this Congress and administration,” Tengco said.

Tengco also urges Fil-Ams to exercise their right to vote. ANC's Early Edition, 4 October 2018
