Ethnic minorities in Hong Kong are staying away from protests as they are wary of being identified and targeted, an Indian social worker in the Chinese territory said on Sunday.

"As far as I know there was one Filipino gentleman who was arrested among the 748. I believe he's been given adequate legal system and also now we haven't heard any other ethnic minorities now. Why is that? Well first, we were not getting into the riots because I can say we're very easy to be identified, targeted," said Jeffrey Andrews in an interview with ANC.

Chinese military intervention in Hong Kong, however, would be disastrous not just for Hong Kong, but the world as well, Andrews said.
