SAN FRANCISCO -- The overseas absentee voting (OAV) for Filipinos in the US kicked off Sunday.

Commission on Elections Commissioner Rowena Guanzon, who served as guest of honor at the first day of the OAV here, said she hoped that the 250,000 registered Filipino voters in the US would tally a high turnout.

A total of 1.8 million registered Filipino voters live or work abroad. The 2016 presidential elections saw a 33-percent OAV voter turnout, said Guanzon.
