Some 18,000 posts in the construction firm of former senator Manny Villar are available to displaced workers in Saudi Arabia and Qatar who want to go home, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said Monday.

The government will hold a job fair in the oil-producing Gulf states to entice skilled Filipino laborers to work for Villar's firm, said Bello.

"Ipapakita natin sa kanila na dito, mayroon silang security of tenure at ma-enjoy nila lahat ng benefits of a regular employee," he told DZMM.

(We will show our OFWs that they can have security of tenure here and enjoy all the benefits of a regular employee.)

Overseas Filipino workers in Saudi are shelling out more money after the Saudi government imposed a 5 percent value added tax on remittances and other services.

Qatar's tourism and real estate sectors, meanwhile, took a hit after its Gulf neighbors banned air and land travel to and from Doha.

The government has yet to announce the dates and places for the proposed job fair in the Middle East.
