The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has rolled out a "no leave" policy among its personnel in order to boost police visibility and ensure the safety of public areas this Christmas season.

NCRPO director, Chief Superintendent Oscar Albayalde explained that while authorities see "no clear and present danger of terrorism," additional personnel are needed to secure packed areas especially malls, churches, markets, and transport terminals.

"We maintain the high threat level here in NCR so the police remain in full alert. This is a preventive measure to ensure that our target hardening measures are in place," he added in Filipino.

He also urged the public to avoid bringing children and large sums of cash to public places.

Metro Manila residents who will spend Christmas in their provinces were reminded to secure all locks in their homes and ask neighbors to check their houses every now and then.
The PNP may be reached through text hotlines 2920 and 2286, Albayalde said.
