The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority urged motorists to help ease traffic by carpooling to band U2's first-ever Philippine concert and the closing rites of the Southeast Asian Games on Wednesday, the venues of which are both north of the capital.

U2's concert, which will be held at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan, is expected to end around the same as the 30th SEA Games' closing ceremony at the New Clark City in Tarlac, said MMDA's EDSA traffic chief Bong Nebrija.

"Please plan your travel, kung pupuwede po mag-carpool tayo para sa ganoon ay maiwasan natin ang dagsa ng sasakyan na pupunta sa area na iyan," he told attendees of the 2 events.

(If possible, let's carpool to avoid the influx of vehicles going to that area.)

The MMDA will implement a stop-and-go scheme in EDSA and other major roads to make way for the vehicle convoys of SEA Games delegates, he said.

Under this scheme, roads will be locked down and motorists made to take alternate routes. The roads will again be opened once the VIP has passed, the MMDA earlier said.

Tailing the SEA Games convoys is prohibited, Nebrija reminded motorists.
